Building a 2287cc VW engine for my Sonerai (92mm jugs and an 86mm stroker crankshaft). Test fitting components revealed interference between the Arp rod caps and the cam. I put the cam on my lathe with a live center in the tailstock, and turned down the diameters of the cast areas where the rod caps needed to clear. I can tell you that cast and forged cams are very hard material, but the little lathe won the fight. Now I have .070" clearance between the rod caps and the cam, and I can begin assembly of the engine. Tom Attachments:
