Building a VW Type 1, 2287cc for my Sonerai IILS. Its take a long time to accumulate all the right parts, and to get the pulley end of the crankshaft tapered for the Force 1 bearing and prop hub. Last night I put the gears on a stove burner, heated them up, and slid them over the crank. After cooling, they are tight as ticks on the crank. A small victory. Tom Attachments:

Another step completed. Since this engine is using an 86mm stroker crank with Chevy rod bearings, I had to check clearance between the Arp rods and the cam. Also checked cam to lifter clearance. All looks very good. The case was clearanced for the original 2180cc 82mm crank, which proved to still be more than adequate clearance for the new crank and rods. Having fun so far. Tom Attachments:
