With a good part of the United States in Winter Mode, This is usually when the home workshops start humming. The daylight is short, and the nights after work drag on if there is not an airplane project to work on. Tell us what your winter airplane projects might be, and share with us information about your workshop, man cave, or hangar.... Ed

Thanks Ed. Good topic. It's been a bit chilly here in Central Texas. Only made it to mid 60's today. ;-). I'm building a Skylight. Purchased project from a local friend. I'm building it in 1/2 of a 2 car garage. Working on the wing right now. I've nearly finished the second half. The fuselage is mostly welded and is in my hangar next to my Kitfox. I'll probably mount the wings and fit everything in my hangar early 2013 before covering if the weather warms up a bit. I plan to use a Hummel 45 HP 1/2 VW engine.

Building a 2287cc VW for the Sonerai. Finishing up work on a differential hydraulic disk brake setup for the Skylite. Just bought a mini mill to go with my lathe. Will be moving to a home in the country soon and will set up a complete metalworking shop. The acreage has a shed with rolling doors, a concrete floor, and room for two aircraft. Going to be a good year.

While I don't expect much to get done this winter, I do hope to spend a little time working on my Baby Ace restoration project. I'd like to get all the engine controls sorted out and operational before I pull the engine. I figure it's good to plan ahead. After that, I'll strip the fuse down and start the process of cleaning and painting tubes. I figure that will get me into spring with warmer weather for painting. Here's my thread on the SAA forum with pics: sport-aircraft.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=aircraftandprojects&action=display&thread=57Visitors are always welcome. I'm in Front Royal, Va in the northern Shenandoah valley. -Wayne

Little over a month and the last rib is out of the jig. Almost all of the gussets are in place and I am just sanding and cleaning up all of the ribs.
I have about 35 hours into the project so far and am enjoying every moment.
Just had another spring snowstorm the last few days.
