I'm sure the extrusions would work, Pete. I opted for the hat sections on my Sonerai and I have no regrets. They are also easy to splice, so you can get them in lengths that don't require truck freight charges. I attached mine to the standoffs with .025 safety wire and they formed a very nice continuous curve to the sides of the fuse.

First, you have to upload your pics to a host. I went to the photobucket site and registered, established a free account. Uploaded several pics to establish an album. Once pics are loaded in the album you place your cursor over one of them and a dropdown box shows several options - click on the IMG (bottom option) code. This places the IMG info onto your clipboard.
Start a post here and hit Ctrl v. Your pic gets inserted and shows up in the thread.

Same Skylite with yet another coat of paint - maybe Skyheavy would be a better name for it here. This made up my mind to add lightness. Today it is down 46 pounds, and another 54 pounds is coming off. Note that I edited the above instruction to post a pic - even simpler than I thought.

Recent improvements, cowl sheetmetal, new windscreen. Extra tank between wings is removed, exhaust runs straight back.

Pete, looks like a lot of the hard work has been done on yours. Wish my fuse was that clean, but it will be soon (sandblaster).
What engine do you plan on using?

Tom Tom, I plan to put a Scott Casler 45 HP 1/2 VW against much advice. I don't like 2 strokes having flown ultralights in the early 80's and had plenty of forced landing practice. I was looking to build a Texas Parasol when I heard about the Skylite for sale locally. I'm learning to weld, but it's nice that the hard part is done. I hope to fly the Skylite to Oshkosh someday. Yep, I hear ya on the 2 cycle engines. Though my Kaw 440 is a fresh OH by one of the best, I still can't get comfortable with that 6,000 RPM Weedwhacker whine out in front. But, that's what it has and that's what I'll use. I'd really strip it down and put a Rotax 277 in it, but I'm already going to be $ underwater with the work I'm doing now. And the sound would still get to me. Its going to take me a long time to gain confidence enough to fly more than a couple miles from home.
Very nice work on the ribs, Pete. You'll do fine.

Tom,
Do you have the Skylite plans? I'm looking at mine and have a question. Please email me if you do @ peteohms at yahoo dot com.

I do have a set of plans Pete, but they are out at the hangar. I'll be out there tomorrow and will grab them, then email you later tomorrow.

Ok troops, I'm about to start laying out the wing on my Skylite. I need a fool proof way of marking front and rear Center Line on each spar as well as how to drill them accurately. The rear spar will have to be raised 2.5" for washout. How will that affect my front and rear Center Line?
